Webinar: Food Systems Education

Universities

March 19, 2025

APRIL 3, 2025 | THURSDAY | 11:00 AM PT | 2:00 PM ET – REGISTRATION LINK

Join us for an engaging webinar featuring two experts in food systems education to equip the next generation of advocates and leaders for a plant-centric future. This session offers actionable insights for educators, administrators, and organizations in higher learning interested in collaboration and adoption.

Brittany Sartor, a UC Berkeley lecturer and co-founder of Plant Futures, will discuss their initiatives to bridge gaps in food systems education. Plant Futures has introduced curricula at 11 U.S. universities and extended programming to over 85 institutions across North America. They partner with over 80 plant-based companies and nonprofits to offer students hands-on experience and opportunities to contribute to the future of food.

Brittany will share how Plant Futures, an interdisciplinary curriculum focused on sustainable food systems, is offered for credit at various universities, including business schools and public health and government programs. She will detail the course’s development, its unique value to students and partner organizations, and what it takes to bring the curriculum to new campuses.

Lucy Whitney, Campus Education Manager at Switch4Good, will highlight the Campus Action Now program, which empowers students to drive change through service learning and internships. An alumna of the New Roots Institute’s Leadership Program, Lucy has collaborated on plant-based initiatives and conducts research on urban farming in NYC.

Service learning engages students with real-life challenges, framing course knowledge as a tool for change. Learn how Switch4Good’s program uses this pedagogy to enhance campaign work and deepen understanding of dairy’s impact on people and the planet.

The Better Food Foundation will share the service learning curriculum modules for integration into university academic programs.

A Live Q&A session will follow with an opportunity to share your food system courses.
