Matthew C. Halteman is a Professor of Philosophy at Calvin University, Chairs the Animals and the Kingdom of God Lecture Series at Calvin College, and is a Fellow of the Oxford Center for Animal Ethics in the United Kingdom. With a PhD of Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame and BA summa cum laude in Philosophy and Literature at Wheaton College, Halteman has authored Compassionate Eating as Care of Creation, worked on impactful publications such as Living Toward the Peaceable Kingdom: The Entrapment of the Poor into Involuntary Labor; Understanding the Worldwide Practice of Modern-Day Slavery and Philosophy Comes to Dinner: Arguments about the Ethics of Eating. His hobbies include time with family, friendship, philosophy as a way of life, animal advocacy, cooking and eating, music of all kinds, and running.
